| Roads to
Segamat Port may be widened
From the Star 1st Oct 1998.
KUALA LUMPUR: The Cabinet has directed the Public Works Department (PWD) to study the
possibility of widening roads leading to the Segamat Inland Port, Transport Minister Datuk
Seri Dr Ling Liong Sik said.
He said the number of vehicles travelling there would be very high once the port was
ready.
"If the roads are not wide enough, there will be massive traffic congestion. "
"The Cabinet decided that PWD should conduct a study on how fast the roads could be
widened," he told reporters after launching a motivation course for volunteers of the
community service programme of the Tunku Abdul Rahman College (TARC) here yesterday.
