Segamat to finally get Tangkak Highway?

For many years, the govement promised a highway to connect Segamat to Tangkak in order to give easier access to the North South Highway. This would at least bring back some development to Segamat.
However this promise has never been fulfilled. Now there is another promised made and we will have to wait and see if this will finally come true.
At Ledang yesterday, Chief Minister of Johor, Dato 'Abdul Ghani Othman announced that a four-lane road project connecting Segamat to Tangkak will begin next year.
"The state government is aware of the problem and I also want to give due attention to the development of Segamat district which is quite far from the route of the North South Expressway."
"When the project is completed, residents in Segamat can save time if they want to travel to Johor Bahru or Kuala Lumpur without passing through Tangkak. "
He was speaking at the opening ceremony of the road between Sengkang and Kampung Teratati on Saturday.
The road started on 4 September 2007 and was completed on January 23, 2010, three months ahead of expectations. In addition, Abdul Ghani also said the government proposed a number of major projects to the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) for inclusion in the 10th Plan.
He added that if the projects are approved by the central government, it will not only strengthen the national economy but also help accelerate the development of the state.
In his speech, Abdul Ghani will also ensure that development projects are planned not only in Iskandar Malaysia, but will cover other districts in Johor.
