12 JobsMalaysia centres to open nationwide
KUALA LUMPUR: At least 12 JobsMalaysia centres will be opened nationwide to help job-seekers secure employment, Human Resource Minister Datuk Dr S. Subramaniam said yesterday. He said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak would launch the centres simultaneously when he opens the centre in Cyberjaya on Thursday.
The other centres are in Port Klang and Kelana Jaya in Selangor, Johor Baru (Iskandar Malaysia) and Segamat in Johor, Sungai Petani (Kedah), Kota Baru (Kelantan), Ipoh (Perak), George Town (Penang), Kuching (Sarawak), Kota Kinabalu (Sabah) and Kuala Terengganu (Terengganu).
“Besides making available an online job-matching facility, the JobsMalaysia centres will also conduct interviews and establish links with employers to provide more employment opportunities,” Dr Subramaniam said in a statement.
The centres would also provide career guidance and counselling, collaboration with institutions of higher learning, schools, government departments and the private sector for registration, emplacement and promotion of jobs, he said.
Dr Subramaniam said one objective for establishing the JobsMalaysia centres was to promote them as centres which provided free facilities for those seeking employment. “We also intend to expose job-seekers to the available employment opportunities,” he said. He expected unemployed graduates, retrenched workers, the disabled, single mothers, pensioners, tertiary students and employers to visit the centres.
Dr Subramaniam said activities at the centre in Cyberjaya would include the online registration of job-seekers and employers, job emplacement programmes involving 180 employers, and the offer of 10,000 vacancies in various categories for graduates and non-graduates. – Bernama
