Bank gives zakat to charity groups

AmIslamic Bank contributed RM100,000 in zakat perniagaan or business tithes to five charity homes and organisations in Johor last week.

The contribution was handed over to representatives of the homes and organisations by Ambank regional manager Shaiful Bahri Mohd Yaacob. The recipients were Majlis Agama Islam Johor, Rumah Amal Anak-anak Ikhwan, Persatuan Kebajikan Anak-anak Yatim Islam Kluang, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak-anak Yatim Islam Mersing and Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak-anak Yatim Islam Segamat.

“It is our duty as Muslims to pay zakat perniagaan,” said Shaiful Bahri. Helpful deed: AmIslamic Bank officials presenting the zakat contribution to representatives of the five Johor charities recently. He said the contribution was a way for AmIslamic Bank to fulfil its corporate social responsibility.

The contribution will assist the charities and organisations to meet their daily expenses, ongoing programmes and assist needy students. Other recipients of monetary contributions from AmIslamic Bank were welfare homes formed as charity centres for orphans, the poor, single mothers, senior citizens and other asnaf.
