The Goh Chor Bukit Siput Lion Dance Team was recently placed at 1st runner up position at the Lion Dance on Stilts national championship. This competition in Malacca was attended by 8 teams from Selangor, Johor and Negri Sembilan.

Goh Chor troupe members Tan Kar Hwa, 17, and Goh Guan Cheng, 17, said they did not perform to par. “We did not pace ourselves and made many small mistakes, causing us to lose marks,” said Kar Hwa, who had been interested in lion dancing since he was just nine years old.

He took a six-month break from lion dancing after suffering an injury last year and only recently resumed training. The troupe’s coach Tong Kwee Song was happy with the teenage pair’s performance as they had merely a month’s practice.{jcomments on}
