Burhan AminResidents and the business community in Segamat collectively owe the district council (MDS) RM5.7mil since January 2008. Council president Burhan Amin said the amount included RM4.6mil in outstanding assessment payment. He urged the public to pay up to enable MDS to upgrade the infrastructure and allocate for future development.

He added that the council was planning to rebuild the old market in town, and the project would cost RM4.5mil. “We have initiated three steps to get property owners to pay up. “These consist of putting up notices on billboards at strategic spots in town, sending individual reminders to the defaulters and as a last resort, issuing legal notices,” explained Burhan.
