Segamat river has broken it's bank and many areas are flooded including Taman Segar, Taman Utama, Kg Jawa, etc. This flood appears to be worse than the one in 2006! The question is why is this happening so quickly, especially with all the flood remediation work the goverment has put in since 2006.

The main thing now is for the goverment to organize the rescue operations because this is a MAJOR flood.

I've tried finding out what the river level is but the hydrological department's sensor stopped reading the correct level around 27th Jan noon at 9.05m. This is close to the danger level which is 9.15m. I'm sure we are over that level now! Have a look at this Department's link to Segamat river level. It's suppose to be updated hourly but the data stopped coming in back on the 27th.

Police and Fire and Rescue Department officials have urged anyone with information on flooding to contact the police hotline at 07-2212999 or the Fire and Rescue department at 07-2247444.
