Over the last few days there has been heavy and constant rain in Segamat. The Segamat river has risen dramatically and it looks like we may have to face a big flood like that in 2006.

The 2006 flood was the worst flood to hit Segamat for many years. Residents of Segamat was badly traumatised by it. It left the town full of muddy sludge and dirty rubbish.

The road linking Jalan Pee Kang Hai and Jalan Genuang is already flooded and impassable. The Segamat river is rising quickly and seems to be flowing quite fast.

Since the 2006 flood, the goverment has been doing floood prevention work on both the river as well as the general drainage around Segamat town. Most of the drains in Kampung Abdullah were replaced with larger drains. However we will have to wait and see if it all works.
