A TOTAL of 180 policemen from the Segamat police headquarters received immunisation shots against Influenza A (H1N1) during an awareness campaign recently. Segamat police chief Superintendent Abdul Majid Mohd Ali said the campaign, organised with the cooperation of the district Health Office, was part of the force's preventive efforts against the deadly virus.
"Even though no police personnel has been infected with the virus, it does not mean that they don't have to take care of their health and safety. "The shots were given to the police personnel as a preventive measure because their duties involve contact with the public," said Abdul Majid. He said the programme was in line with existing preventive measures to stop the spread of the disease. The three-day campaign began at the Buloh Kasap police station and ended at the district police headquarters.
