Even though shopping for everyday items is OK in Segamat, there are times when you want to go out of town to get something special. For Segamat people, Malacca is a favourite destination because it is the closest big town with lots of malls. I know a few families that do a weekly shopping trip there for groceries alone. Malacca is just over an hour away and Jusco and Cold Storage are just after the toll booth. You don't have to go all the way into Malacca town for groceries.

Another favourite location is Johor Baru. The nearest mall to Segamat is Jusco at Tebrau City. It takes just over 2 hours to get there. This is one of the newest malls in JB and even the Singaporeans go there to shop.

My family used to travel about once a month to KL but this is a much bigger trip. We used to do day trips where we would leave early in the morning, then go to 1 Utama or The Curve and shop till about 3-4pm. Then we would drop by my brother's house for a visit and stay for dinner. Leaving at about 9pm, we would then be back in Segamat by midnight.{jcomments on}
