This is a map of important places in Segamat. We will be updating this map to include schools, essential services like ATMs, Petrol Stations, Supermarket, Goverment buildings, etc. We will have a separate map for businesses like cafes, restaurants, internet cafes, etc. In the meantime, please tell us what you would like to see on this map in the comments section.

Lions Club Segamat held a blood donation drive for Segamat Hospital Blood Bank yesterday at Kip Mart Segamat. It had a good turnout with 138 bags collected. The target for Lions Club was 100 bags. Staff from Segamat Hospital Blood Bank and volunteers from Lions Club Segamat worked tirelessly from 10am till 4pm to do the registration, screening, blood collection, tagging and storage. Everyone worked cheerfully throughout the day even though they were tired towards the end of the day. There was a rest area with hot tea and food for the blood donors. This campaign was to top up the blood bank in time for the upcoming festival, where there is normally a shortage. Kip Mart Segamat generously donated a large area for the event. There was a mix of new donors as well as regular donors. Lions Club Segamat holds about 4 such blood donor drive each year. The last one was in Batu Anam, which also collected over 100 bags. Syabas Lions Club Segamat, Segamat Hospital, volunteers, Kip Mart Segamat and most of all, the donors.

From NST Online SEGAMAT: Security guards at a chemical factory in Jalan Labis here were jolted by six explosions, which was followed by a fire that razed the factory on Monday.
At the time of the 1.45am incident, Nordin Ali, 62, and his colleague Ahmad Fuad Ali, 52, said they were patrolling the compound when the factory caught fire.
Nordin said he immediately alerted his supervisor, who managed to drive out a car and three lorries before the buildings were consumed by the flames.

The solar-powered facility is maintained by the Segamat Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID). District DID engineer Chiam Shiun Shu said the sound of the siren on the system will be triggered when the water level in Sungai Jenaling exceeds 11 metres and the sound could be heard 3km away. “Water will enter a pipe installed in the banks of Sungai Jenaling. When the water level exceeds 11 metres, it automatically activates the siren.send a signal through a mechanism that would activate the signal.

By AHMAD ISMAIL THE Segamat Community College has created history by being the first institute of its kind to offer courses on piloting light aircraft. College director Mohd Rohaimi Yusof said the basic course was set up following a survey that revealed a huge demand for such a course from members of the public. He said the programme is a collaboration between the college and the Subang-based Air Adventure Flying Club. The club has more than a decade's worth of experience in training pilots.

The durian season that started early in Dec 2011 came to a halt when the wet weather came with a bang and almost cause a big flood in many areas of Malaysia. Now that the weather has cleared up, the durian season is back! It's a big one too. I see durian stalls everywhere from Segamat to all the main roads up to KL.
